Sending email using your custom domain (Outlook SMTP)

Overview

Configure Outlook SMTP in Keysender so delivery emails are sent from your own email address. Buyers then see your name and domain in the sender field instead of a generic one, which improves trust and inbox placement. You need an Outlook account with 2-Step Verification enabled to generate an app password. The walkthrough video shows the shared SMTP screen.

Before you start

Make sure you have:

• Access to your Keysender vendor account.
• An Outlook account with 2-Step Verification enabled.

Steps

Generate an Outlook app password

1. Open the Microsoft Account Security page at account.microsoft.com/security.
2. Go to Two-step verification and complete setup if it is not already enabled.
3. Go to App passwords and select Create a new app password.
4. Name it, for example "Keysender SMTP", and click Next.
5. Copy the 16-character app password.

Configure SMTP in Keysender

1. Open Account then Settings then SMTP Setup in Keysender.
2. Enter your Sender Name, which is your business name.
3. Enter your Sender E-mail, which is your Outlook address.
4. Set the Host to smtp-mail.outlook.com.
5. Set the Port to 587 for TLS or 465 for SSL.
6. Set Encryption to TLS or SSL to match the port you selected.
7. Enter your Outlook address as the Username.
8. Enter the app password as the Password.
9. Turn on Status.
10. Click Save, then Send test e-mail.

Confirm it works

The test email arrives from your sender name and email address. Delivery emails sent by Keysender now use your custom domain.

Troubleshooting

Symptom	Cause	Action
The test email fails with an authentication error	The app password is wrong, or was generated before 2-Step Verification finished setting up	Regenerate the app password after confirming 2-Step Verification is fully enabled
Delivery emails still show the Keysender default sender	Status is still off, or Save was not clicked after entering the fields	Turn on Status, click Save, then send a new test email
The test email never arrives	The port and encryption do not match (for example, port 465 with TLS selected)	Use port 587 with TLS, or port 465 with SSL

If it still is not working

Check that the app password is correct and that 2-Step Verification is enabled on your Outlook account. Error messages appear in the top right corner of Keysender. If the issue persists, submit a claim so Keysender Support can review it.
